Haywood Regional Medical Center Hosts Basic, 101 Self-Defense Lunch and Learn in Honor of National Safety Month
June 6, 2025

In recognition of National Safety Month, Haywood Regional Medical Center invites the community to a special Lunch & Learn event focused on personal safety and self-defense. The event will take place on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the second-floor classroom of the Haywood Health and Fitness Center.
The session will feature Marshall Hall, expert taekwondo instructor, who will lead a Self-Defense 101 class designed for all skill levels. Participants will learn foundational techniques, tips for increasing awareness, and how to respond effectively in uncomfortable or dangerous situations.
“Feeling safe in your everyday life is something everyone deserves,” said Sue Shugart, CEO of Haywood Regional Medical Center. “This Lunch & Learn is about giving people simple, empowering tools to help them feel more confident and prepared. Supporting our community’s well-being goes beyond medical care—it includes education, prevention, and personal safety.”
National Safety Month, observed each June, is dedicated to reducing leading causes of preventable injury and promoting safety in all aspects of life. Haywood Regional Medical Center is proud to participate by offering educational opportunities that address physical and emotional well-being, including the importance of knowing how to respond in threatening situations.
Lunch will be provided.
