Harris Regional Hospital named among U.S. News & World Report’s ‘Best Hospitals’ for stroke care

August 06, 2025

Harris Regional Hospital has been named in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025–2026 Best Hospitals edition as a high-performing hospital for stroke care. This is the highest distinction a hospital can earn as part of U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings.

The high-performing rating recognizes care that was significantly better than the national average, based on objective data such as risk-adjusted outcomes, patient experience, nurse staffing, and advanced technologies. This year, U.S. News evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions, making the recognition especially meaningful.

“This national recognition reinforces the exceptional level of stroke care our team provides every single day,” said Ashley Hindman, CEO of Harris Regional Hospital. “It’s a powerful testament to the skill, coordination, and dedication of our physicians, nurses, emergency responders, and support staff. Together, we’re delivering life-saving care when every second counts, and doing it right here in the community we proudly serve.”

In addition to this national honor, Harris Regional Hospital is designated as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by The Joint Commission and the American Stroke Association, a certification earned following a rigorous onsite review of clinical care standards, process improvement efforts, and stroke treatment protocols. This designation reinforces the hospital’s commitment to rapid evaluation and timely intervention for stroke patients in a rural setting.

Recognizing the signs of a stroke and seeking care immediately can save a life. Common stroke symptoms include sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side of the body), confusion, trouble speaking or understanding speech, difficulty seeing, loss of balance, or a sudden severe headache. If you or someone around you experiences these symptoms, call 911 right away. Prompt treatment is critical to improving outcomes and reducing long-term effects.
