Harris Regional Hospital welcomes Anne Karner, CNM

Harris Regional Hospital is pleased to welcome certified nurse midwife Anne Karner to Harris Women’s Care. Karner has practiced in the region for the past eight years, delivering babies and caring for families from Jackson, Swain, and Macon counties.

Karner received her Master of Science in nursing/midwifery at East Carolina University. She completed a Bachelor of Science in nursing at Western Carolina University and served as a registered nurse in the labor and delivery and mother-baby units at Harris Regional Hospital for nine years before becoming a certified nurse midwife.

Karner joins Sabine Kelischek, MD, Megan Metcalf, MD, Alvin Strasburger, MD, Sally Inglesby-Schaefer, CNM, Judy Layton, CNM, and Kathy Walsh, NP at Harris Women’s Care with locations in Sylva, Bryson City and Franklin. The New Generations Family Birthing Center at Harris Regional Hospital recently completed a $5.5 million renovation which features new rooms, nursing stations, updated technology, and a C-section suite on the unit.
