Harris Regional Hospital to Provide Free Sports Physicals for Jackson County Students at Smoky Mountain High School
April 9, 2025

Harris Regional Hospital is partnering with Smoky Mountain High School to provide free sports physicals for all students in Jackson County on Thursday, May 8th, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. The event will be held in the new gym at Smoky Mountain High School.
Volunteers from Harris Regional Hospital will be on-site to conduct physical exams and health screenings for any student preparing to participate in school athletics. These evaluations will include vital checks such as blood pressure, weight, and general health status to ensure students are physically ready for the demands of sports.
Parents or guardians are encouraged to attend the event with their student; however, students may still complete the physical without a parent present as long as their forms are fully filled out and signed in advance.
“This event removes barriers and makes it easy for families to get their athletes ready for the season,” said CEO Ashley Hindman. “We’re proud to support the health of our local students and help them prepare for a successful year in sports.”
Sports physicals are a crucial part of keeping student athletes safe and healthy. They help identify any underlying health issues that could put a student at risk during physical activity, while also establishing a baseline of health before the sports season begins. These preventative measures are essential for promoting long-term wellness and ensuring students can safely enjoy the benefits of athletics.
