Harris Regional Hospital to Host Lunch and Learn on Anterior Hip Replacement at Western Carolina University
April 09, 2026
Harris Regional Hospital invites community members to attend a free Lunch and Learn on anterior hip replacement on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Western Carolina University’s Ramsey Center Hospitality Room, located at 92 Catamount Road in Cullowhee.
The session will be led by Paul Ulrich, DO, orthopaedic surgeon with Harris Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, who will discuss the anterior approach to hip replacement and how this muscle-sparing technique is changing the patient experience. Dr. Ulrich will explain how the procedure works, who may be a candidate, and what patients can expect before, during, and after surgery.
Anterior hip replacement is designed to avoid cutting through major muscles, which may support faster recovery, reduced pain, and improved mobility for many patients. As joint replacement techniques continue to evolve, educational opportunities like this allow individuals to better understand their options and make informed decisions about their care.
“Providing access to advanced surgical options close to home is an important part of serving our community,” said Ashley Hindman, CEO of Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital. “We are proud to partner with Western Carolina University to bring these conversations to campus and connect with our community in meaningful ways.”
This Lunch and Learn reflects Harris Regional Hospital’s continued commitment to community education and its partnership with Western Carolina University.
The event is free and open to the public, and lunch will be provided.
