October 02, 2025
Harris Regional Hospital is pleased to welcome Colby Finch, Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C), to its medical staff.
Beginning this month, Finch will care for patients at Harris Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, joining the established team of orthopaedic physicians and advanced practice providers including Douglas Gates, MD; Larry Supik, MD; Josh Patton, DO; Paul Ulrich, DO; Ryan Slechta, MD; John Songer, MD; Alexis Willey, PA-C; and Jared Schoeberl, PA-C.
Finch recently earned a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Bethel University in Paris, Tenn., where he was recognized for outstanding academic achievement and clinical performance. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from the University of Mississippi, graduating magna cum laude as part of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College.
His clinical experience includes focused training in orthopaedics at Tennessee Bone and Joint Institute, where he worked closely with an orthopaedic surgeon caring for both surgical and non-surgical patients. Finch also completed rotations in emergency medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, general surgery, psychiatry, dermatology, and obstetrics and gynecology, gaining broad skills across multiple specialties. Prior to entering PA school, he worked as an emergency medical technician in Oxford, Miss., and as a patient care technician in Nashville, Tenn.
“We are excited to welcome Colby Finch to Harris Regional Hospital and to our orthopaedics team,” said Ashley Hindman, CEO of Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital. “His strong training and patient-centered approach will help us continue to provide excellent care for the people of western North Carolina.”
Originally from Nashville, Finch is relocating to western North Carolina and looks forward to building his career in the mountains. “I was drawn to orthopaedics because of the chance to help people return to the active lifestyles they enjoy,” Finch said. “I also value taking the time to thoroughly talk with patients about their recovery process so they feel informed and supported in reaching their goals.”
Outside of medicine, Finch enjoys hiking, golfing, watching football, and spending time with his wife and their dog.
