Nurse Aide I Training Program

Next Class Begins August 2. Register by July 18 to be considered for this class start date.

The Nurse Aide I Training Program at Haywood Regional Medical Center is designed to provide entry level Nurse Aide students with skills essential for providing resident/patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. This program consists of a total of 140 hours of supervised classroom (42 hours), laboratory simulations (62 hours) and clinical experiences (36 hours) consistent with the standards of practice upheld by the NCBON. 

The central objective of the HRMC NA I Training Program is to prepare participants to successfully fulfill the requirements for completion of the state-approved NA I Training Program and to successfully meet the competency requirements (State Testing: Written Exam & Skills Demonstration) for listing as a Nurse Aide I on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry.

Requirements for the program

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
