Pediatric Rehabilitation

Physical, occupational, and speech therapists with extensive training and experience
in pediatrics make up the Pediatric Rehabilitation Team.

The Pediatric Team is committed to providing accessible, high quality rehabilitation services, including evaluation, treatment, and consultation to developmentally challenged children from birth through adolescence in western North Carolina. Our team's purpose is to assist children in progression toward their fullest developmental potential, and we strive to do so with enthusiasm, compassion, and dedication to quality.

Our Team

Sandy Davis, PT, MPT, PCS, MSW

Sandy is a physical  therapist and a board certified specialist in pediatrics.  She received her Master's in Physical Therapy from Western Carolina University in 1998 and has been working with Harris Regional Hospital providing physical therapy to young children since 1998. She serves as clinical coordinator for Harris Regional Hospital's pediatric rehabilitation services. Sandy also has a Master's in Social Work from University of Georgia.  She has 11 years of experience as a social worker, primarily working with infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families.


Catherine Overbay, MA, CCC-SLP

Catherine has been a speech pathologist at Harris Regional Hospital since 2011. She started her career here after moving to North Carolina from Baton Rouge, LA where she attended Louisiana State University for undergraduate and graduate school. She specialized in pediatric speech, language, and feeding disorders. She works in the outpatient clinic at Harris as well as covering therapy needs at Summit Charter School in Cashiers. When she is not at work, she enjoys life in Waynesville with her husband and children.


Lauren Carnes, PT, MPT, CLT

Lauren is a licensed physical therapist. Lauren graduated with a Masters of Physical Therapy from Western Carolina University in 2011. Her professional interests include neurology, pediatrics, and lymphatic drainage. Lauren is currently taking classes to receive her certification in lymphatic drainage. She is currently covering both at Harris Hospital and at the Franklin Medical Park. Outside of work Lauren enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering in the community.


April Wikstrom, OTD, R/L

Pediatric therapy has long been April’s professional passion and she has consistently sought extensive continuing education in the areas of motor development, sensory integration, literacy/handwriting, learning disorders, trauma and behavioral concerns.  Since graduating in 1998 from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, April spent 10 years providing school based and early intervention services on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation in Dulce, NM where she developed and published a kids’ music and movement program to enhance literacy skills. In 2011, she completed her Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from Rocky Mountain University while working as a professor in an OT Assistant Program.  April continues to apply evidence based methods of assessment and therapeutic interventions in order to ensure efficiency and positive outcomes in the pediatric setting.  She is thrilled to be part of the highly experienced and compassionate team at Harris! She relocated to Franklin, North Carolina in the fall of 2017 in order to help elderly relatives. She and her husband enjoy walking their Australian Shepherd, biking along the Greenway, morning meditation, cooking and singing with the a cappella group, One Heart.
