Harris Regional Hospital Welcomes First Baby of 2017

SYLVA – Harris Regional Hospital is ringing in 2017 with the year’s first bundle of joy. Liam Quinn Connor was born to Dr. Ana Maria Gonzalez and Eric Connor Sunday, Jan. 1, shortly after 8:00 a.m.
“We are so excited to finally have Liam here with us. He is a special gift to help us celebrate the new year” said Ana Maria and Eric. “And we are so grateful to the physicians, nurses and staff in the New Generations Family Birthing Center at Harris Regional Hospital who made this such a special experience for us.” Liam is welcomed in the family as the youngest of three boys including two older brothers, Declan, age 4, and Brennan, age 1, Connor.
The New Generations Family Birthing Center at Harris Regional Hospital is committed to providing high quality, compassionate care close to home for new and expecting parents. At Harris Regional Hospital the New Generations Family Birthing Center creates a balance between the latest technology and comfortable surroundings for your new family, supported by the region’s leading obstetricians, pediatricians, nursing staff, and other trained staff. Services are available before, during and post-delivery including birthing and breastfeeding classes, facility tours, delivery, and access to International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC). The nursery is classified as Level II, or ‘specialty care’ nursery, providing enhanced services and care for near-term and full-term newborns.
“We consider it a privilege to serve the labor and delivery needs of western North Carolina,” said Megan Metcalf, board-certified OB/GYN at Harris Regional Hospital “Our expectation is that every patient and her family will have a positive experience and genuinely feel our commitment to delivering high-quality compassionate care.”
Dr. Gonzalez is a physician at Harris Medical Associates in Sylva where she serves the community as primary care physician. “Roles have been reversed for the birth of my child; the patients I usually care for are now caring for me.” Gonzalez commenting on the care of her nurses during her delivery. “I feel like a member of the family. This was very special for me. Liam was the second child to be delivered at Harris and it has been nothing but the best experience both times.”
The New Generations Family Birthing Center at Harris Regional Hospital is located on the third floor of the Harris Regional Hospital.
